Hendren Disability Advocates (HDA) opened doors for business in 2011 with our first business name “Social Security Disability Advocates”.
HDA partner Mary Galvin Hendren started providing advocacy in 1999 at the Community Legal Information Center (CLIC) in Chico where she held the position of Director of the Disabled and the Law Program. HDA Partner and Lead Advocate Kevin Hendren was also Director of the Disabled and the Law Program for CLIC later on, between 2005 and 2007. Both Mary and Kevin are Chico State alumni.
In 2015, Kevin passed the EDPNA test allowing for business with the Social Security Administration, and now regularly keeps on top of the newest rules and regulations with yearly required continuing education units too. This is when we evolved Social Security Disability Advocates to focus just on Social Security Disability by only providing support for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Social Supplemental Income (SSI).
That year we also expanded our offices on the top floor of the Waterland-Breslauer Building in Downtown Chico. We needed more space to meet the increasing demand for our Social Security Disability services. We believe that helping and supporting local people are the most important things we do, so as the word was getting out online, we saw the start of our big successes.
In 2019 we expanded our offices again for more space and more people.
In 2021 we changed our name from “Social Security Disability Advocates” to “Hendren Disability Advocates” partially to remove the words Social Security from our brand name to decrease brand confusion. Also because we have, at this point, positioned our successful brand how we want it to be, focused on helping local people who need help. So it was time to re-energize our brand name to let the North State know who is in charge and making a real difference locally for people with Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Social Supplemental Income (SSI). And that is Hendren Disability Advocates in Downtown Chico.
Hendren Disability Advocates proudly supports the local Northern California efforts of:
